Back when I was using ACAD 2006 (last week), I could save named viewts with all the layers I wanted turned on/off and just click and drag those named views into whichever sheet I wanted it in (using the sheet set manager)....

Now with ACAD 08, I am attempting do the same thing. I was able to save the named views and their repective layer settings (by checking the layer snapshot box - same way I did in AACAD 06). However, when I attempt to click and drag the named views into the sheet using the sheet set manager, ALL the layers xref with the named view, even the ones that were previously saved as "frozen" in the named view.

I can't seem to figure out what's going on...any ideas?:?

Hi

I'm using the sheet set manager with sets of civil and mechanical drawings on a project.

We have a specific layer (same name) on all drawings which is usually turned off. It contains a field that pulls a custom property from the sheet set manager. I would like to turn this layer on / off from the sheet set manager to either etransmit the entire drawing set or plot it.

From your post you seem to know how to use saved views to manage layer states from the sheet set manager. You couldn't give me a few tips on how to do this could you?

It's a bit cheeky butting in on your query and I am sorry but I've posted this query a couple of times and never had any response, you're the first person I've come across who seems to have the knowledge!

To be even cheekier - using the page overrides in sheet set manager; is there a method to specify the plotter, page size but tell autocad to use whatever the default plot style is per layout? I have sheet sets of civil & mechanical drawings that I would like to print to our A3 printer but they use different CTB files depending on discipline & scale.

As I said I'm sorry to intrude but I'm a little lost with the sheet set manager tools.

Cheers

It's not a visretain thing is it?

visretain = 0 then the xref source dwg states are used
visretain = 1 then the current dwg states are used.
