Lithium Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I'm having problems with Dtext turning into Mtext. Just to be clear, I always use the Dtext button from the ribbon. I've noticed though that often, when I go back to edit it, it has turned into Mtext. I keep the Properties panel open on the right side of my screen. When I need to edit text I prefer to just edit it there in the Contents box, but Mtext cannot be edited there. It opens the 'In-place text editor' which I hate. (I wouldn't hate it so much if there was a way to end the editing without that dang dialog box coming up asking if I want to save the changes.) I don't understand why sometimes, not always, the Dtext is changed to Mtext. Is there some way to change Mtext back to Dtext? Quote

rkent Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Have you checked the CUI to see if the Text pick is actually set to Mtext. BTW, Dtext is a command that was dropped in 2004. The alias in the pgp keeps dtext working, but it simply calls up the text command. There is no entity called dtext, it is just text. Just a pet peeve of mine, ignore me, most do. Quote

I am never prompted when leaving Mtext editor to save the changes. Type MTEXTED at the command line and see what editor is set. Try using Internal rather than the one set. Quote
Lithium Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 lpseifert: Explode. That was easy. Here I thought Explode was just for blocks. Thanks. rkent: I finally noticed that I can check a box on the 'In-Place Text Editor' dialog box, so you helped me get rid of that. As for no Dtext command any more, and I'm not disputing what you say, but when I hover over the single line text button on the ribbon, the tool tip calls it Dtext. However, I looked for Dtext in Help and Dtexted was all that came up. Then I tried Mtext and when I went to the Procedure tab I noticed that Help is wrong. It says that to end Mtext editing press Enter. Pressing Enter just adds a new line in the editor. How do you terminate the editing of Mtext? Cancel/Esc? Thanks for your help. Quote

Yes Autodesk has a hard time scrubbing the program when they make changes. Dtext command was "removed" from the program in r2004 and placed an alias in the acad.pgp. As for exiting Mtext editor, CTRL + ENTER, or the OK button if it is showing. Quote
