Butch Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Dont want to post another topic so Ill ask here. Can you transfer all the shortcuts keys, custom paletts, macros, user, blocks, user attributes from my Autocad thats instaled on my computer to another Autocad thats on another computer? Quote
Tiger Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 You really should start a new topic for each new question - if you had, you would have found Similar threads at the bottom of the page that probably would have answereed your question. But yes, it's possible. What you do is you go Tools > OPtions > Profile and Export your own Profile (after you have made all your changes and stuff) and then on the other computer you do the same but Import your profile. But... to get access to blocks you need to have the blocks on a network that both computers can read so that the file paths are the same. Quote
Butch Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 But Ive tried creating another profile on top of my current, then selected it and reseted it, but the keyboard shortcuts stood all the same?! Quote

If you were to keep these items in a separate location, away from the Autodesk stuf, then it's very simple. Say you keep all this stuff in a directory called C:\CADSTUFF. Then it's as simple as copying this directory to the new machine, then adding this directory to the top of the support file search path, and maybe loading a partial menu. Butch Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Where are all the shortcuts stored? In the .cui file or? Quote
Tiger Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 the keyboard shortcuts are stored in a ACAD.PGP file - saved on you harddrive - the actual folder is under C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD \\enu\Support At the bottom you'll find User Defined Command Aliases - these are the ones that you need to save and carry with you over to a new machine. Peter K Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 What works for me is 1) exporting / importing the profile 2) exporting / importing the .cui by means of using the loading partial cui file 3) making a copy of the support folder and storing it on a general accessible area on the Server 4) storing all "specials" such as custom icons/ lisp routines/ as well as the partial .cui in a folder of it's own directly on the C: drive, and having a copy on a general accessible area on the server This way I can easily migrate to another machine if need be as well as easily import certain functions and settings, or all of them, etc. on the machines of colleagues. Butch Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Ok Ive opend an acadiso file then I defined my dimensions styles, linetypes, blocks. What must I do so that when I every next time open the file (on my compute or any other) I have all those custom styles available. I must crate an template file, correct? As for shortcust, toolbas, palletes they dont count here, correct? I must export my custom profile and import it on other macine, correct? Quote
rkmcswain Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Where are all the shortcuts stored? In the .cui file or? They could be in a variety of places. PGP file, any number of lisp files such as "acaddoc.lsp" or an .MNL file, the CUI file, etc. Quote

Store this file in a location accessible to everyone and then set this same path on everyone's machine. You might want to set Options>Files>Template Settings>Default Template File Location also Quote
