Organic Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I usually draw A1 and print 1:1 for A1 and 1:2 for A3 scale to retain scale. I have an A2 setout now. To print A2 its obviously 1:1, however what is the scale to print A3? 1:1.5? Quote
sparklerach Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I disagree with the first statement. An A2 is half the size of an A1 and an A3 is half the size of and A2 or a quater the size of an A1. Therefore, if you are plotting A1 as 1:1, then and A3 should be 1:4 not 1:2. So if you are plotting and A2 at 1:1 then an A3 is half it's size so should be 1:2. Hope this makes sense. Quote
Strix Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Not quite sparklerach  it's half the AREA, not half the SIZE Following the logic in the first post, the scale should be 1:1.5, or as it should be written: 2:3 Quote
sparklerach Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Me and my scales are going into the corner to cry! Sorry! Quote
Strix Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 oh scales have produced some fascinating threads in the past - and some heated debates too! (and amusingly it has been some of our most respected members who've had the greatest difficulty visualising them ) PS - by 'the corner' did you mean the chat forum? Quote
Organic Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 Thanks, 1:1.5 or 2:3 seems like it works. Quote
Peter K Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I for one am a big fan of paperspace tabs. Having it set up so that each tab is a different papersize. The only scales one has to deal with then is the one uses in the viewport and even that is a cinch when drawing scale 1:1 in modelspace. I must admit that I'm at a loss why anyone would draw anything else but scale 1:1 in modelspace. Just my two pennies worth. Quote

That's the issue though, if you have a A2 set up in Paper Space but want to plot it one-off on a A3 - what scale to set in Plot Scale then. Which Strix answered earlier on. To draw anything but 1:1 in Model Space is Crime Numero Uno Quote
