oldsoftboss Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 We often get drawings from consultants and the like that obviously use their own shape files, but when sending the drawings, never include them. Opening the drawing call a windows dialog box asking to locate the missing .shx file. Press cancel and the drawing opens fine. This dialog box can appear up to half a dozen times on some drawings and gets to be a real pain. Obtaining this file is like getting an honest answer out of a politician. In short, is there a way of finding what has substituted this shape file (if any) and permanently changing or deleting it? Cheers, Dave Edit, Have tried purge, audit etc. Cant pick any "out of the ordinary" shapes or line types. The missing file is DDW.shx, so I presume it is some type of domestic water line, but cant seem to find any trace of it. Quote
oldsoftboss Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Thanks CarlB. It turned out the shape file (DDW.shx) referenced the drawing schedule which included "Deleted Duct Work". As the drawing is of a new building, it doesn't have any deleted ductwork, so I deleted it from the consultants (obviously) standard schedule. Thanks once again. Dave Quote
skipsophrenic Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 1. Did you make a back-up copy of their standards Incase one day you do need the Deleted Duct Work? 2. Ask them in future could they use the e-Transmit option to save these problems happening in future? Quote
