I'm attempting to model a gooseneck (flexible) lamp to add to an assembly later. I'm having a spot of trouble with the actual neck itself; it's a standard two-coil design, one flat and one round, that allows the neck to bend in a spliney fashion. Were it actually straight, I could simply model two coils, square and round, but the thing needs to be able to bend.
I know how to do sweeps, arrays along a 3D spline, 3D intersection of sweep and profile, etc., but none of these solutions seem to work. I could just do a simple sweep and bumpmap it, but it's just not the same. Any suggestions? :?
