If I don't know the plotter which will be used to plot the plt-files, is it possible to define a default plotter and create plt-files?
What could be wrong, if the plotter has plotted only half of the content of the layors even that they are switched on?
I use AutoCad 2002.

Not sure I understand but you can always install a "ghost" HP plotter (not really attached to your PC) and set that up to print PLT files. I did this at my last job. Our plotter would not make a good PLT file for some reason so I installed an HP 750 or something and set that up to plot our PLT files. Might be worth looking into. Good luck.

Go to www.HP.com. Download the drivers for a plotter, install them. Do not let Windows search for this plotter (it won't find it). After it installs you now have a new printer but with no physical connection. Use this virtual plotter to print with but make sure you have "Print to file" checked. Since this is an HP plotter driver it will/should make hp plt files.

As for which plotter well...not sure try one to see if it works. Perhaps start with an 800 series DesignJet drivers.
