crashes in layer properties dialog box

When I'm in layer properties (ACAD 02), and right click to select all ... the dialog box closes, then ACAD closes. I can't get back into ACAD without re-booting. I have hundreds of drawings, and have noticed this problem with half a dozen drawings. Help!

Have you tried recovering the drawing to see if there are any errors?

Does it still crash if you pick the top layer listed, then pick the bottom whilst holding down the shift key? (I.e select all a different way)

Thanks for answering so quickly... We have recovered and audited the drawings we encountered with this problem - with no success. A co-worker suggested the shift thing, and it's helpful - just not the norm. Thanks anyway!!!
