I am having trouble getting my drawing to plot with enough resolution. The drawing will look better as a PDF than a JPG, but even with the PDF, I am having issues. When I try to insert the object(PDF) into Microsoft Publisher (for work inspection reports) the drawing suddenly looks like it has lost resolution. The circles appear as segmented polylines, and the text and font in general appears lighter. Then when I print it it looks even WORSE! I know that this may be a Publisher problem but any suggestions would be great. (yesterday was a nightmare:() I really need to figure this out once and for all. (because past drawings have not been an issue.) And this is making me look bad when all of a sudden I can't get the work done in a timely fashion and have it look acceptable.

Thanks for your help.

What's different about this drawing as opposed to past drawings?

Are you on a new computer?

New operatng system?

New printer?

The only difference is that this drawing is a little more complex... But really there is not much different. Although I did make this drawing in 3D using the extrude command, so I could copy past and rotate to provide a side view, instead of drawing a new side view. Could that be it. here are examples of each.

Have you tried plotting to a .png? You can keep upping the resolution until you get the acceptable compromise between file size and rez.

I tried that at the default settings with no luck, but i could not figure out how to adjust the resolution. Where/How do I do that?

OK I have some more info, If you look at the drawing I attached (Problem drawing) When I plot it the dimension arrow heads appear nice and dark and the rest of the drawing is light,....So, how do I make the rest appear the same? This may be the problem is it a line weight setting?

The way things appear when plotted are related to setting in the layer manager and/or the ctb or stb file you are using. If you have lineweights set in layermanger to default, then in the ctb (I will assume you are using CTB) you open that and make sure that the colors you are using on the objects are set in the CTB to the lineweight you want.

The resolution is increased in a file like .png by going into the properties for the png.pc3 file, pick custom paper sizes, and select one with more pixels, or create one with a significantly more pixels than what is available in the list.

That seemed to work,:D I set the line weights in the Monochrome ctb to a size that got the job done and now it is acceptable when viewed in the publisher file and when printed. However I have found a different problem. When I plot to a PDF and then import to the publisher file, and then try to print that file, I get an error saying something like(an OLE server can not save the object because windows may be low on memory or the file may not be registered correctly.....) and the object does not print. Although I do have a method that can get the job done now(and I really appritiate all your help) I would like to determine why this happens incase I someday need to plot a PDF instead of a JPG. Any Ideas? Thanks again for all your help!
