:?: Hi all, I'm just getting back into AutoCAD from using TurboCAD for a few years and I'm totally stuck as to a solution that was ever so simple in T-CAD.
When producing GA's I had say a circle and a square in the library. I could then place one on a lower level and the other above it. No change there from A-CAD, but in T-CAD I was able to then apply a white will to the object on top and it would obscure the parts of the object below that should be hidden. I cannot for the life of me work out how to do it in A-CAD - I really don't want to use hatch patterns as that takes time... :?:

Well, you can apply a "solid" hatch of color 255 (white) and it will make it a white fill when printed. You must set your color 255 to print 255 in your pen settings. What version of AutoCAD are you using? r14 and up can do a solid hatch. Hope this helps.

HI, thanks for the reply, but hatching is a bit of a pain. In T-CAD you can just select the object, fill it and you're done, no messing around... How annoying there isn't another way....
btw I'm using AutoCAD 2000
Anyone else with an idea?

I am sorry that is the only way but how is hatching a pain? I think that it is very easy. Sure there are a few steps but no too bad. Oh well good luck with your project and take care :)

You could create regions from your circles and squares. Although they display as wirelines in "2D Wireframe" mode, they will display as opaque surfaces if you change the shade mode to "Hidden".
This works really well and gives exactly the effect you're after.

if region is not what you're looking for..
you might have to go back to color pencils

:?: Erm, I've been trying to get the white 'pen' situation working without any luck... Can someone please run through the process required to make 255 appear white when viewed 'layout', not grey as it keeps showing. and also to be white once it's been printed... :?:
