I wish to place some text below my numerical dimension and below the dimension line. I was shown, in the past, to go to properties/text/text override and type in \x followed by my text. This works but, I'd like to know why. What is this code and is there an easier or more direct/intuitive method to place this old architectural convention? Seems like this could be far more direct and obvious than all of the code and boxes.

Thanks,

Press M right before you finish a dimension; that will bring in the MTEXT editor, with all the facilities. If you wish to return to the default dimension value, replace the text with

No its like that and thats just the way it is! :D (RunDMC style)

~Like fuccaro says do it that way but you still need to use the \X to get the text below the dim line.

I used to copy seperate mtext to below the dim line to use as references - but thats probabaly bad practice.

Just because that's the way it is, I don't need to like it. Things would improve at a snails pace if that were true.

Thanks, Bullseye.

"\P" works too but doesn't place the text below the dim line.

I have found that it is used for placing text below the text below the dim line.

Is this all that it is used for?

(I tried ACAD Help (F1) but couldn't find it)
