Doove Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Hi all I know we've had this discussion before, in fact it is everywhere on the good old interweb, but I can't seem to find an actual answer. Why do some dynamic blocks, when copied and pasted into a drawing lose their dynamic behaviour? Lots of users have reported this for years. Sometimes the behaviour disappears when using the align action as well. Weird thing, you can paste a dynamic block into a drawing and it loses it. Paste the same dynamic block into a new drawing and it works fine. Currently I have three instances of a dynamic pipe block that I've pasted into an existing drawing, the three instances all have different stretch lengths. When I paste them in they all lose their parameters & actions and revert to the block's orgininal length. If I then edit one of the instances of the block and add the dynamic bits again then all three instances are now dynamic again! though I do have to resize them. Has anyone ever worked this out? Autodesk!? Are you out there? Is anyone listening? Quote
dbroada Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 the only time I have found this condition is when X, Y and Z scales are not identical. There is a bug in the scale command in that the Z scale is very slightly different to the X & Y scales. Resetting it to equal the other 2 has always resulted in my blocks regaining their dynamic properties. This really shows up when AutoCAD decides it knows best about inserting blocks into drawings with different insert units set. Quote
