Weeks from now I will be tutored on using VC9 by my 'will be new boss'. He insists on learning it since its his prefered software over ACAD. He also pointed out about the seamless interaction between VC9 and Cinema4D.

I just wanna hear your thoughts about this software. Did anyone here get any first hand experience with it? How is it compared to ACAD?

I'm worried i'd pull my hair out learning a new 2D CAD software after years in ACAD.

BTW, the company just started and it is more like a 3D Studio than an Arch'l firm.

Vectorworks is good and I know a number of people who use it regularly and swear by it. The output looks good too. My one reservation about Vectorworks is the basic philosophy it uses. As you know, the AutoCAD world is 3D. When you begin drawing you are in an infinately large 3D space and we tend to deal with the creation of paper drawings afterwards. To me, this seems logical and proper. Vectorworks, by contrast, begins with a sheet of paper and then you move to 3D from there - this always seemed wrong to me. However, understandably, people transitioning from traditional drawing boards to CAD find Vectorworks much easier because of the paper analogy.

Just my 2p.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I was too afraid it'll take me months to familiarize my self with VW9. My (going to be) new boss wanted to run plans (2D) and at the same time 3D in VC9 and just use C4D as its renderer. Thou I'm trying to convince him the ACAD to C4D workflow wouldn't be too different.

Anyways, I'm the stage of learning C4D now and I hope I could prove my point. Wish me luck. :luck:
