Virtually every project we do the drawings have xrefs for all model information except text, or a one-line ECT... Typically for the architectural layout for buildings or what we would view as the "background" I go to layer manager and set all of that xrefs layer colors to 253 so when printing my information stands out. When preparing for a final submission the drawings are bound DWGs, and here is where the problem is. When I bind the external reference all of my layer overrides disappear. This happens no matter what way I bind. Using xref manager and ensuring that it's bind not insert, E-Transmit, -xref and binding all through the command line... all with the same result. Does anyone know of a way to keep these settings?

It's funny because if You really Bind, the resulting layers created are like this Drawing1$0$Layer01 ; Drawing1$0$Layer02 ; and so on. So it should keep the Layer colors as they where previously. Check that the final drawings do have this type of layers, if they don;t it mmeans that in the proces of Binding the XREFs you have actually inserted them. In that case Drawing1$0$Layer01 will have become Layer01, taking the properties of the current drawing instead of keeping the ones of the XREF.
