I've been sent a .dwg file and i can't seem to open it, it comes up with an error 'drawing file is not valid'.

I've tried opening it in AutoCAD 2008 and 2009, also Microstation V8.

I've contacted the person that sent it, asked them to send it through again and a .dxf version, he's using ArchiCAD to do these drawings if that's any help.

I've tried using both the recovery tools to see if that works, but it says it isn't a proper .dwg or .dxf file.

I've done what some of the other posts have said and opened it up in notepad.

i found this in it: AC1015

no ide what version that means.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

AC1015 is release 2000. It is possible that 2009 can't open that release. Have you tried running it through Autodesk's conversion program? True Convert available as a free download from their site.

Thanks for your help.
