Hi all, first time poster.

I am trying to draw a plot plan in 2d and my survey data is based on N being 0D. How can I change Autocad to also reference N or "up" as the zero for all angles?

I would also like to show the direction of the lines along the line, similar to how I might show scale, is this possible.

So far I'm more impressed by what this product can't do (I am new at it, so it could be me).

What version of Autocad are you using?

I'm using the AutoCAD LT 2009.

I've found in Format>Units I can adjust the base angle. (I still need to use the @ symbol to enter the degree for it to work, no idea why)

Still interested in showing the degrees minutes seconds on the drawing

I think...not sure but AutoCAD always points East...To the Right as 0d ... thats the way it does it. I use 2007 and i have never explored to change the degree references...

In the Format>Units, you should also make the direction of the angles clockwise, as well as North being the 0 degree.

When plotting a survey, and you have your data in the form of an angle bearing and a distance, then each leg is relative to the previous leg, and that is why you have to use the @, which makes the next leg keep on drawing from the end of the previous one.

As you are using LT and can't utilise Lisp, the easiest way to draw an angle alongside each line, is to do angular dimensions from North. I will leave you to explore how to do this.

I can't agree with you here.

I'll look into it.

As you did not give the complete context of using @, the advice was a guess  to be ignored if it did not work.
