My Colour in Xref does not Change , I dont want to use VISRETAIN

Hello Everybody

I am doin Xref of ABC.dwg to XYZ.dwg

but changes occuring in the layer colour of drawing ABC.dwg does not reflected in the XYZ.dwg

I have used VISRETAIN once and it has unfreezed all the layers and file shows desired result.

Now again I have set VISRETAIN Value to 1. The problem continues.

Is there any other way despite of using VISRETAIN ?
