I am still having problems rotating view ports /UCS in Auto Cad 2000Lt, if any one could give me an exact method to rotate a UCS i would be very grateful. I have 4 viewports within in 1 layout, i need to rotate the views differently in each layout, without rotating the model.

HELP ME PLEASE, AM HAVING A MARE :x

I will investigate on google etc. Although I do not know to what extent UCS is used in LT, since i use 2000i.

I have found a tutorial that is for 2D Release 14. You will have to download the viewer as well.

Try

Also run the Learning Assistance CD that came with Lt. Search in there, videos as well.

Dan,

With your drawing created in model space toggle into desired layout. Create a new viewport using MVIEW. The drawing will appear as it does in model space. Assuming you want several different views of the same drawing at varying rotations, create another viewport. Ensure that your USCFOLLOW variable is set to 1. Use the UCS command to rotate the view. You can use different methods. If you are certain of an angle that you require to view the drawing at, use the rotate about the Z axis command (UCS > Z > 30) for a 30 degree rotation. If you want to align to an object in the drawing, use the rotate in line with an object or entity option (UCS > E > [select object]). Note - it will not align to an entity within a block or xref (I think). Instead it will align to the orientation of the block. You should use a line - and for (for example 45 degree) rotation pick a point on the lower left side of the line - for 225 degree rotation, pick a point on the upper right side of the line.
You should now have 2 viewports showing views of the same drawing at different angles. In the normal fashion scale the views using the view > X\XP manner.
I would now reccomend now returning to the model tab - typing UCS > W to return to the world UCS view - resetting UCSFOLLOW to zero prior to setting up any further viewports in the layout.
Most importantly - have a play around with using different methods.

Thanks bloke for your reply.

V help full. have now got it sorted. Except for....... i only seem to be able to get 1 view port to rotate and 1 to be at world ucs. If i try any more they all follow the rotated ucs. I could not for example get 4 different vieww port rotations, i am only able to get 2. it seems the ucs rotate is linked to the viewports a whole?? Do you have to stop and start in any way or save a partcular ucs rotation.

Thanks once again for your help it has really sorted me out. :D

Dan,

Normally, switching back to Tilemode = 1 after your viewport is set up & scaled correctly - then switching to world ucs - then turning ucsfollow off will allow you to return to tilemode = 0 & start the process again without incident. If you still have problems: when you have the reqired view in your viewport at correct scale - save the view (VIEW > S) & give it a logical name. Then proceed to your next viewport and do the same. When you have them all set up - switch back to world ucs & ucsfollow off, then return to all the viewports & restore the views saved (VIEW > R). This too should solve the problem.
