Please help me! I,m totally new to Powerpoint and need to know how to make custom buttons. What I want to do is have one slide with a number of small pictures and when you click on the picture it brings up the slide with the full size picture. I,m using powerpoint from office 97.
Thanks !

All you need to do is add a hyperlink to each button image. Insert the button image, right-click on it and select "Hyperlink". You can use the dialogue box to link to another slide in the presentation where you have inserted a full size version of the image.

Don't mention it. There are a number of options in PowerPoint that are only available from the right-click menu and it can be quite confusing.

Also it is possible to place the pictures on the same presentation. On the first slide you may place small versions of the pictures and create links to the slide containing the big image for each. On the slides with the big images you may create links to the first slide. In this manner you will be able to return to the main menu from every slide. You may attach hyperlink to any graphics. Just use the drawing tools of the Power Point to draw stars, circles etc. Choose a fill color, pattern or an image to match with the content. You may place text on the buttons.
My favorite method is to fill the shape with semitransparent color; this will cower the content of the page but not completely.
Advice: do not place buttons on the left-bottom corner of the screen, this area is used by the program itself.
