Referencing part of a field

Hi,

I have recently referenced title blocks to the drawing properties for common text in a group of title blocks, like client, date etc.

Is is possible to insert only part of a field? say just the first two characters or last two characters.

I have one field with all drawing numbers listed for several sheets, can I link each title block to the relevant part of that field, so each sheet picks up a different drawing number?

I hope I have made some sense?

Oh, I am using full 2010.

I'm no help here, just popping in to say I haven't found a way yet. I hoped I could use sting expressions within the field but I have yet to find the correct syntax. Hopefully somebody does know.

Would it be possible to insert diesel expressions within the field and utilise somehow the substr function ?

it is a long time since I tried diesel, and I wasn't strong then. I think this is one for fuccaro
