So I am working on a residential electrical plan. I was wondering what details and notes should be included if anything?

My teacher said something about a "light fixture schedule" is there such a thing?

Never heard of a light fixture schedule. But upon doing a little searching, I came up with an example. But unfortunately I have to have 9 posts to post a link. As soon as that 9th post registers I will post the link. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Take your time. I was the same way not to long ago.

Well there it is. I might just add a light fixture schedule to spiffy up the electrical plan that I have to do.

And finally, here is the link:

Light Fixture Schedule

Hmm, That looks way different from what he told us to draw. Here is how he wanted us to draw it:

I'm sure there is different ways to do a light fixture schedule. Just like there are a ton of different ways to do different commands. I'd go with the one like the professor has and go for the grade over try anything fancy with it as you have not had experience with it just yet.

Yea I am guess I am just going to have to stick with his format, as much as I dont want to.

The schedule's work for the present.

Keep your eyes on the ocean temperature, a tad more important in Tampa!

CadDan's schedule is more reflective of real world BOM (Bill of Material). I have seen BOM's on drawings and I have seen them as separate documents (Word, Excel, Database Reports). Basically, a schedule or BOM should have a description, a manufacturer, a catalog/order #, an item # that can be bubbled on the drawing to call out the object (I have seen coordinates as locations instead of using BOM bubbles). There are several methods and they all work as long as they have the information needed to replace the part.

However, for you - do it like your teacher wants to see it. Here is an example of an experience I had when I went back to college at the age of 33.

I was in a first year English composition class and one of the things we were supposed to learn in this teacher's class was how to do a resume. She proceeds to instruct us to list every job we have ever had. I raised my hand and told her that if I did that she would get a 6 page resume that I could never get a job with. She said to follow her instructions no matter what my circumstances were. So I gave her a 6 page piece of crap that would never get me a job. I also gave her my two page resume that got me jobs as a contractor in several different nuclear power plants with a sticky that said, "One will get me a job and one will get me laughed at. Can you guess which one?" Witch gave a 'B' on the 6 page one and wrote 'Good Luck in your job search' on the real one.

Just goes to show you that when people in charge are idoits you sometimes have to just do what they want. Good luck with the scholastic regurgitation!:)

Good story I have to say! Sounds like what happens to me all the time in my Architecture class. Mr. C would tell me to do something so I would do it. Then when it came down to getting the grade I would fail it. His reason "You didn't follow my instructions."

That just makes me soooooooooo mad when he does that. The reason I say that is because he always come to me for help.

Here is a good example:

He needed to know how to draw a Door and Windows schedule and being the nice guy I am, I told him that AutoCAD has feature that will do it for you. So I taught him. He then goes to the class and teaches them what I just taught him. He went around to check the schedules everyone created. I got an F because I didn't follow directions. Everyone got an A, But yet I get the bad grade?!?!?

If you read my bio here on CADTutor it says:

"I love to show up my teacher on how to use ACAD-A 2009 (It just makes my day!)" and that is so true!! It is so nice being smarter than your instructor!

Sometimes - not so much...especially with getting a bad grade. I would probably take issue with getting a bad grade after teaching him how to do it in the first place. However, one of the hardest lessons in life to learn is doing as you are instructed to do even when it doesn't make sense.

One of the buzz phrases out here in the real world is "think out of the box". I don't have a problem there - my problem is getting into the box 'cause I'm always thinking outside the box.

It is still irritating knowing that I am the one really "teaching the class" but I still the bad grade! I swear, something is wrong with that guy. But oh well I guess, I only have 1 more year with him and then I get to move on. So I guess I will just suck it up!

And I like the little joke you added, Nice way to get the weekend kicked off, even though today is Thursday. LOL

Trust me, we (my parents and I) have nailed him SO many time already!

Good for yal - keep him honest and if you have to go over his head as far as necesssary depending on the nature of the infraction. One of the happiest days of my life has to be the day my son graduated from high school and was no longer in the public school system.:D

I am hoping to be done with school after this year. Right now I am planning on going to the United States Coast Guard Academy to study Naval Architecture as well as become and UCCG Officer.

That way I get to do 2 of my most favorite things: CAD and being on the water:D

Most Excellent - You GO!:)
