Thinking of buying a newer CPU but need to know beforehand if this system will work. Not sure which computer brand I will buy but likely an HP.

Thanks-

I think you are going to have a problem doing so. But you can try compatability mode. Let us know what happens.

Maybe 2010 will work? That's my only suggestion. Or you could just wait for Autodesk or one of the other companies to release something that is compatible with W7.

I would fully expect 2010 to work but I have a feeling the OP isn't about to spend the $$$ to upgrade and thus the reason for his question.

Virtual machine or dual boot system are possible alternatives I think.

That's true, and wish to stick with 2004LD. Looks like I'm going to find an older machine that has XP on in order to keep 2004LD.

The continuing upgrades of Autocad are wearisome. Why oh why doesn't some smart dude make a program that will convert a drawing from v.2004 up to v.2008?

Saving "up" to a new release isn't necessary. New releases, at least as far as AutoCAD is concerned, can still open "old" dwg files.

I am running ADT 2004 on Windows 7 no problems thus far!
