I can see a lot of visitors to the Inventor Forum not many questions getting asked, why would this be,
1. you all know everything about Inventor? = no questions 2 ask
2. you all know nothing about Inventor? = no answers to give
3. you are just looking into somthing you have heard from internet or friends and wanna see that its all about.
what ever the reasons may be i think we could ask Mr T if a Poll could be started just to find out some interesting questions about the traffic that pass on by
what do u guys think would a poll be of any use?

i'm just checking things out for the most part, inventor goes into to much detail and is to time consuming for what i do, at times i have to generate drawings for an entire plant in literally just a few days. we leave the details up to the fabricator.

Thanks for the reply i understand what you are saying about the the time taken 2 model a plant, the frabricators are so use to standard 2d layouts they can fill in any gaps themselves most of the time they dont even ask the draftmen/women, they just know what there going. Then agian saying that, i just introduced my first Inventor drawing pack to our frabricators the otherday and can i say they loved it so much there wanting all drawings in Inventor format from now on. i did say nope cannot do BUT i will do lots of subassy drgs in Inventor and most drawings will have a 3d ios view (just doing a quick 3d view in inventor can takeout any confusion on the shop floor and I have seen it really does speed up production time.

I have done polls here before. :?
When I show pupils at my school a simple shape drawn in IV
then when I create the 2D views, sections, isometrics with
a few clicks there is gasps in the room. 8)

Nick and sorry to go off subject ere (remove if you wish) but what age group do you teach? just wondering if young kids are getting the change to see 3d Parametric Modelling using Inventor where u live, or are you teaching college age (over 17 years of age) p.s i to see the faces of people light up at college when i show them Inventor, when people see you drive a constraint they love it, and when it all sinks in they say "how long would it take me to learn that" lol

From 12-18yrs old high school.
Kids are blown way when I draw a box then create the orthographics and sections from it in about 1minute.
First task for 12yr olds is to design a wee MP3 player. A small rectangular box with buttons, fillet, in/out buttons etc. Over 2 51min periods. Obviously they then never use 2d autocad again.
I teach nr Edinburgh, Scotland.

good on ya, its a great age for a intro to 3d for young people, brings out the creativity in them, and could lead them into showing a greater interset in maths as well.

Most kids, in my school at least, donot see the relevance to life of maths whereas a 3dmodel spinning aorund of a coolnew design for an Ipod is relevant.

Nick:huh: but Loch Oich is nowhere near Edinburgh
it sounds like you have a pretty cool school up there - or is Inventor now on the national curriculum?
