Have no idea myself of powerpoint, but at work we have a limit of 5MB on any email attachments which really sucks! So we either compress the file using Winzip that Im sure uve heard of or use a free peice of software called chainsaw, that cops your file into segments then reconfigures them at the other end .Sounds a bit daunting but as long as the recipient has the free software to reconfigure the file its fine.

Hi there
It depends what kind of features you have in your presentation as to how small you will actually be able to get it to go.
In all versions of powerpoint there is however a feature called "Pack and Go" - it basically compresses everything possible for you into one nice small file.
The person recieving the file on the other end will however have to unpack the file. It's not hard, just follow the prompts.

You can also use a program like winRar, which is basically like zipping a file, but winRar will allow you to compress the file and split up into predetermined file sizes. Google WinRar and you can find it.

PowerPoint (since version 97) does a pretty good job of compressing the files when it is saved (provided you have 'fast saves' turned off...which is in "tool > options")
So, you really have to look at 'what's going into your presentation' in terms of pasted objects/pictures/etc

Why are my PowerPoint files so big? What can I do about it?

The best way to reduce the size of an image to be used for powerpoint is to scan the image and save as a jpeg. Bring the jpeg into Adobe Photoshop and reduced the size of the image to about 4 inches by 6 inches while keeping the resolution at about 400 DPI.
This should keep it small enough to email.

Some images as smaler when saved in JPG format, others in GIF format. Also the resolution can be adapted in each cases -it is hard to generalize.

if you have images in powerpoint..u can compress images by following this simple process:
open powerpoint presentation.
right click on one of the images in presentation (no matter on which slide it is!!)...choose format picture...click on size TAB...and press compress button...check " apply to all pictures in documents" and select "for web / screen"..finally click on apply. it considerably reduces the file size..
"HOPE THIS WORKS WITH PP97"
