charlie72 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I'm trying to draw a standard line in the XY plane and when i do a isometric it shows the line is drawn into the Z corrdinate. I think its something i have to switch off but can't remember. I'm drawing a 3D model with the display set to realistic view. Any advice please. Quote
pattyandme Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 what is the origional view your in are you drawing a top view in front view? Quote
chrisdarmanin Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 well i would turn ortho on and keep an eye on the dynamic input and make sure its not on the z axis (assuming you're in a 3d view) Quote
ReMark Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 You have to switch off the Dynamic UCS. I find I don't like it either but if you want to overcome your hesitation about using it take a look at this tutorial by Ellen Finkelstein. http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/autocadtips/AutoCAD_tips_use_dynamic_ucs.html Quote
charlie72 Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 I'm in front view and turning on or of Dynamic UCS dosn't make any difference. I've tried Back, Left, and Right views and they all have the same problem. In top or plan view i tried drawing a line from a high point on my model and drew a line a few meters to the side, not clicking onto anything specific. Looking at it from Front view the line has been drawn out to the side but droped to base level of my model. How do i keep it that it will draw the line to the same level i picked on the roof? Quote
ReMark Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 You are using Ortho mode and Osnaps right? Have you also tried relocating the UCS to the elevation you want to work at? Quote
charlie72 Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 I'm trying to draw a line at an angle on the Front view therefore Ortho mode would not be suitable. I moved the UCS to the face I'm working on and that worked. Thanks All Quote
