Hi,

Is there any way of getting certification in AutoCAD.
Are there some online courses( which are recognized by the employers) which one can take and get the certification.

thanx

If you can't find any online courses and live in the UK, here's a useful site to visit
www.city-and-guilds.co.uk/pls/cg2/CG_PARK.QUALFIND_RESULT?p_name=id&p_id=19558&p_name=scheme_no&p_scheme_no=4351&p_name=level&p_level=All%20Levels.
I've done level 3 myself, its given me a good grounding and will hopefully increase my chances of future employment, when I look elsewhere for a AutoCAD career. Then again it depends what you intend to do 2D/3D?Theres also alot of Autodesk training centres dotted around the globe, not sure if they have online courses though, type this into your browser: usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=3001477
Anyway as much as qualifications might look good on your CV ,you cant beat training yourself via books, forums and the AutoCAD help menu.

hello again,

thanx for yr reply.. i am in US and am trying to go for a CAD career( entry level). As i have no previous experience with AutoCAD, so i want to get some experience with it which of course will improve my chances of starting in the industry. Thats why i was thinking of getting the certification.

I checked the Autodesk training centres but they dont offer courses online .
what will you suggest??
presently i am learning the stuff myself with books , online help etc.

waiting for reply
many thanx!!!

You might want to try your local community college. I got a cad operators certicate, then with a few more courses, got my advanced cad operator certificate. In Dallas, TX the adv. cad o. cert. is about 20 hours less than an associates degree in applied science. The certificates are for entry level positions. One thing I reccomend is to look in your sunday classified ads for jobs, and find out which software is more in demand. I took AutoCAD and Mechanical Desktop classes, but the problem is there isn't a demand for MDT. But, they see that I have 3D experience, and that helps me get jobs. Good luck.

Don't know if you use City and Guilds qualifications over in the States, but I've just found a website that offers online training.
