tim Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 I have a metric drawing, but all the functions such as text height, scales etc are in imperial. I want to change the drawing settings so that metric paperspace and text layouts come up. I know all about rescaling the drawing i.e. multiplying by 25.4 etc. I am trying to change the functionality of the drawing itself so that metric options are presented from the menu commands. I have lots of layouts set up so do not want to save it and insert into a new metric template drawing. Anyone know how to do this? Please!!! I think there must be some drawing variables that can be toggled. Tim Quote
Tankman Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 After scaling the *.dwg, all units will be metric. What? Quote
tim Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 Thanks Tankman for the response ....I need to explain more. The original drawing was in acad 2006 and worked just fine..everything is in metric. I have just got acad civil 2010. When I open the drawing the distances are still corect, but the drawing settings are imperial, that is, when I go to create a text style I get inches instead of mm and when I want to change the viewport scale i only get imperial options. So re-scaling the drawing will not correct my drawing as it is already the right size. My problem is getting autocad to give me metric rather than imperial options. I originally opened civil 2010 in metric mode then opened the acad 2006 drawing (which was a metric one) and find that is using imperial functionality. Quote
eldon Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 If you type MEASUREMENT what figure does it return? If the drawing is in metric, it should return 1, and for imperial it returns 0. Even though you started out wanting metric, you have to make sure that is what you have got Quote
tim Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 Thanks Eldon, When I typed measurement the drawing was set to 0, but when I reset to 1 this didn't fix things. Still getting imperial options. So I have done a work around by wblocking the model space components and inserting them into a metric template. But this loses me all the layout setups unfortunately. Still looking for that elusive method to fix my drawing rather than writeblock out the guts and starting over. This may just be a migration problem from 2006 to 2010 that can't be fixed....hope not. tim Quote
eldon Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Now I wasn't trying to get you to set MEASUREMENT to 1, I was merely getting you to see what the value was. Back in the days of LandDesktop 2005 (which I still use), I could never set up a Project with Metric units, even when I chose metric in the set-up. All my volumes were being divided by 27. I found a work-around this bug. Set up your Project as normal. Then from the top menu, go to Projects - Drawing Set up- Units. Then despite the Meters button showing valid, click on Feet button and accept all the ghastly consequences. THEN click on the Meters button and accept the dreadful warnings. The program seems to need this double bump to actually show it that you really, really want to work in metres. Hopefuly you will be able to convince your program. Quote
tim Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 Hi all: Here are the solutions I got from Autodesk: If you change the drawing settings by going to the Settings tab of Toolspace, right clicking on the drawing name and setting the drawing units to meters. As for the scales of the viewports you can reset them using the SCALELISTEDIT command. Tim Quote

My point was that you have to do that even when you have set up a Project in Metre units. There is a bug there Quote
