How do I change my line thickness

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am trying to make borders for my titleblocks. I have drawn a 24 x 36 polyline and I type in change/properties/thickness/I give it the thickness and press enter. It does nothing. I also tried it without the polyline.

Yes, it is me again, the autocad 14 user. I am so over it at the moment!

Thanks for any help.

Enter Polyline,

[Arc/Halfwidth/Length/Undo/Width]

Enter " W " for width

Give starting and ending width.

I could be wrong, but I suspect that 'thickness' will only show up on a plot enabling you to zoom in very close on details of a drawing without the lines 'increasing' in size and preventing you from seeing the detail

I'd use polylines for your titleblock if they're available to you

To "thicken" (or give width) to your lines they will have to be polylines as mentioned previously. If you used lines then use the Pedit command to turn them into polylines and the width (W) option to bulk them up.

Do NOT use the Thickness option of the change properties command! Per AutoCAD Help re: Thickness -

"Changes the Z-direction thickness of 2D objects."

You should NOT be changing the Z-direction of any of your titleblock/border lines.

In later releases of AutoCAD, lineweight (which is really the proper term) can be assigned to a given layer via the Layer Properties Manager. Time for an upgrade perhaps?
