Hi guys

I have inserted an xref but when it shows on my drawing the whole thing is shaded dark.

When I look at the xref the colours are fine, until its on my drawing.

I inserted it on its own layer.

Any idea?

Rob

PS: Does it matter what colour I assign to that layer? I tried different colours but it changes nothing. What does that allocated colour determine?

I hope this pertains to LT...

Maybe the xref was inserted on a layer that is locked and your system variable Laylockfadectl is > 0. The same thing could happen if you use Layiso.

Thanks ipseifert, I have created its own independant layer though and put it on there.

What should Laylockfadectl be set to? Mine is set to 50.

I have used xrefs before on this same drawing and never had this problem.

50 means that entities on locked layers are faded 50%, 0 means no fade

from Help

LAYLOCKFADECTL (Quick Reference) Type: Integer Saved in: Registry Initial value: 50

Controls the dimming for objects on locked layers

The range for controlling the fading for objects on locked layers is from -90 to 90.

0 Locked layers are not faded

>0 When the value is positive, controls the percent of fading up to 90 percent

NoteThe fading value is limited to 90 percent to avoid confusion with layers that are turned off or frozen.

Ok fair enough, thanks for that.

But it still doesnt solve my problem, Ive set it to 0 and the xref hasnt changed a shade.

Just to show whats happening...

And its only the xref, the rest of my drawing is as per usual.

You need to set this var: XDWGFADECTL

0 means no fading. Yours is probably set to 50
