Confusion with UCS and Planes (Inventor 10) *pic*

Hello All:

I am confused when it comes to the User Coordinate System.

For some reason, when i make a new drawing, i get this issue with the UCS arrows.

As you can see, the drawing has two UCS icons. One of them (on the bottom left) has the Blue Arrow (Z axis i assume) pointing up at me. But the other one has it facing the side!!!!! why!!!!!

so when i draw objects i dont know which UCS im using.

Is there a way to change this? so that i only have one UCS icon? does anyone know WHY i have two???

im making a details library so if i keep drawing all the parts in the wrong plane, then we're going to have to rotate every part every time we insert it into a new drawing.

I use Inventor 10 at college and i dont have 2 UCS arrows,just 1.

Can i quess what u mean is EACH MODEL has a different UCS, i.e you have problem like when u want to view the top it goes to the bottom when u want to view the left it goes to the right, or when u insert or open a new model the UCS is different every time? if this is the case then i can help as its a simple matter of making sure your in the right view before you begin to sketch and save.

how do you change the UCS because i think this is my problem answer as well?

I am a bit of a newbie with inventor so be gentle. Plus using old version 7.

JPG files are much smaller than bmp files. You can do a screen capture by hitting the Print Screen key in upper right corner of keyboard and then past in an image editing software like MSPaint (which is installed on virtually every Windows OS). You can then attach the jpg directly to your post.

You can select any of the base workplanes to start your model (you don't have to accept the default). You can change the behavior in Tools>Application Options>

I have never had to fool with the coordinate system since starting with Inventor v7 or Solidworks v2001.
