Adding a Computer related forum

Ive seen lots of posts, and created a few too, of people having issues with their computer functioning the way they want it to. And everyone seems to post these questions in different places, would it be possible, and hopefully not to much work, to add a forum for computer related questions.

I've answered a handful of computer related questions dealing with RAM, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, mice (the non-rodent variety), keyboards and flash drives. In the course of discussing issues with software I know many of us inquire about the hardware setup too.

One good source of computer-related information (both hardware and software) is Smart Computing. I used to subscribe to their magazine and participate in their online forum (much like this one) at www.smartcomputing.com. Many knowledgeable people there.

Yes, there is already a hardware forum on the board. Perhaps it isn't obvious because it's a sub-forum?

In one way I agree too. Many people want to run Acad at home or off some laptop now. Main thing bugging them is will this obsolete plotter or tablet run off of it? Yes and no.

If you have too new of version you probably cannot run a plotter that was made about in early 1980s', way before Acad was marketed. Same with a tablet.

But, but, the vendor who sold it to me said it would work on Acad, and he gave me all of these adapters to show me too.

Not that model of plotter, tablet or version of Acad is short answer.

May need a prominent forum to handle simple question such as "I just bought this off eBay and was told..."

Better, "I'm thinking of purchasing this off eBay and the seller says..."

Most sellers would say anything if you have PayPal.

Buyer beware!

Arguably, the more forums we add, the less prominent any of them become. We do already have a forum for problems relating to computer equipment and peripherals, and other software that isn't CAD. Questions posed outside of this forum which may appear to belong in there are often interacting with AutoCAD so are posted in an AutoCAD forum
