nacila Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Hi everyone.I am a beginner to Autocad and I have read similar subjects about layers and lines in this forum before writing my problem. I have set my template with all layer properties set. Usually I use Match Properties command to assign a layer to a line. But while doing this,I have to choose all the lines one by one to assign corresponding layer. And sometimes , it becomes very hard in a complex drawing. For example I have a drawing with all the lines having different colors and different line types.I want to transform all lines with hidden2 linetype to red and continuous to green or with green colored to continuous and red colored to hidden2. Is there a command to do this without considering any layer assignment ? Or a better solution than mine ? Thanks a lot. Quote
Glen Smith Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Go to TOOLS - QUICK SELECT and play with the selection choices there. You should be able to narrow down the selection set so that just the things that you want to change are selected, then go to the properties menu and make the appropriate changes. It's better to get in the habit of making sure that you're on the correct layer when you draw new objects. (I'm still fighting this battle myself.) But there will inevitably be times that you need to change things - QUICK SELECT is your friend. Glen Quote
ReMark Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Color and linetype should always be set to Bylayer thus the reason for setting up your template with well-defined layers. Only in rare instances should Bylayer be overridden. It just makes turning off, freezing or isolating (layer Isolate) objects so much easier when dealing with complex drawings. Quote
