Why does ACAD 2006 suddenly go into a freeze every so often. Im in the middle of a drawing and click the next icon and the prog just hangs, goes to a black screen ( i draw on a white b/grnd ) then takes upto 5 mins to wake up. I have an AMD64 etc etc so no lack of puter power. Any ideas or similar experiences ????

check wether your graphics is running hardware or software drivers...do this in the autocad options.

omg white background. :?
anyways, i used to work for a civil engineering firm and the computers with AMD processors would always hang. the intel's would be fine. one of the engineer's did some research as to why this was happening and he came to a conclusion but i never cared to ask (cuz i had an intel lolz)
but yeah try out the graphics settings.

1st thing I'd do is check the graphics card's drivers. Maybe download some new/current ones and see if that helps.

10 minutes in and my first crash, ive set the display to hardware etc. As for the drivers I will let our IT guy sort it out, although he admits he has no experience with AMD........sheeesh.
As for a white screen i prefer it , i dont use lots of colours to draw with as I find it too confusing.
Being a sort of self taught plus TAFE drafter means i probably draw how has suited me, this company took me on as the CAD drafter because their other person was still drawing with pens.

Is this a new machine? Was it built buy your IT guy or from a retail shop. I still say that downloading new drivers from nVidia would not hurt. I ALWAYS download new video drivers whenever I get a new PC. Even when I build one. Even though Windows might have a driver for your card it is probably out of date or a generic driver.
