Huge differences from these two plotters. The Kip is the one I'd pick, hands down. I'll explain:

The Kip machine uses almost 99% toner yield since it doesn't have to mix the developer with the toner, saving you TONS of money over an extended period of time, since the Océ wastes about 40%-50% of toner usage. Plus, the machine will be much cheaper than the Océ, since they are made in like Ireland or Scotland or something like that... I can't remember but all I remember is that due to export and trade, this drives up the costs by a huge margin.

My company was looking at an Océ plotter a year ago, and the darn thing cost over $40k. We have a Xerox but the engine is actually made by Kip, and we have had absolutely zero problems with it at all. Plus, since we're not wasting any toner anymore, we're saving roughly $3,000-$4,000 a year in toner supplies.

Just call up some of the resellers in your area, and go visit them. They all have display rooms and you can test your own prints out. Do the research, I spent about 3 months for me company researching 5 different brands, and Xerox was the best for us, although Kip was definitely the only competitor. We would have went with Kip had it not been for the Xerox reseller (whom we'd been contracted by for five years prior) gave us an offer we couldn't refuse, just to keep our business.

Hope this helps some. :)

i dont have a huge amount of experience as ive only worked with 3 large format plotters but i must say the KIP 5000 is by far the best (and most expensive) ive used.

The 6204 is the same plotter we have, only difference is ours has a much nicer touch screen LCD display, 4-roll paper tray vs. 2, and it's faster. That's it. :)

There are many companies nowadays who manufacture wide format plotters. I feel that Xerox is one of the best companies out there. Epson is also coming out with some really good plotters and printers. These plotters are really very expensive when compared to other regular plotters.
