Is it possible to convert text into a drawn object? I want to do this with our company logo .. so it will save having to send the font file with the drawings.
Is this possible to do without having to trace around the text - this is very hit & miss.

Welcome Paul!
Here you will find the answer at your question:

You did not mentioned the software you are using. To explode the text you will need the Express tools.
Also you may try the “Pack ’n go” to put the file and the used font together. If you wish to distribute a single logo you may send the logo inserted in a dwg AND the font used.
Good luck!

...and if you don't have Express Tools, you can use WMFOUT and WMFIN.

This thread is over 5 years old. The forum has been re-organized since then and all the threads have been moved around. If you have a question, start a new thread and let us know what the problem is. We will be happy to point you in the right direction.

If your question is concerning exploding text, look into the Express Tools TXTEXP command.

Ha yea, but newbies never die!

Besides, the reason I was looking for this is because I needed to do it and had forgotten how...after plunking away I found it, and in case another unfortuate finds him/herself in my shoes;

Place the text inside a box. use express tools to explode the text, then use the boundry command from the draw menu to draw a border around the inside of the box, erase the original and bingo! extrude away!

Check it out here (http://www.dwgtool.com/outline.htm)
