I gave my students (using 2010) an assignment that involved creating walls for a building. The overall outside dimensions were 24' x 18' x 4".
In completing the drawing, some students used the OFFSET command to create the 4" thick walls, others used multilines.
When the students displayed the drawing in paper space, the students using the OFFSET command had the correct dimensions. However, the students using multilines could not get the program to dimension correctly.
For example, a multiline showed a true dimension of 120" displayed as 4.14" which is the scaled down length in paper space. By contrast, the equivalent dimension for a single 120" line just below the multiline displayed as 120".
Out of curiosity, I ran a 2006 version of AutoCAD and the same problem occurred.
Is this a known bug?
