arrow heads

Hello,

I cant figure out how to adjust arrow heads. I have two parrallel lines and want to display the dimensions between the parrallel lines. However, I do not want the dimension and dimension arrows displayed inside but both arrows pointing at the outside surfaces of each line. This is kinda what i am looking for below. Any help would be appreciated.

One way is to select the dimension in question then go to Properties. In the section labeled Fit click on Text Movement. Select Move Text, no leader. Place your text as you wish.

So you want 'NO TEXT' between the lines regardless of the space between them, as in the arrow heads and their respective lines are always 'outside' of the space, rather then inside, correct?

The text can be dragged wherever, not important, it's the arrow heads you want to force outside all the time correct?

Try this.....

DDIM (open the Dimensions Dialog Box) and select the current style you are using, then select MODIFY. Under 'FIT' and in there 'FIT OPTIONS' select 'BOTH TEXT AND ARROWS' rather then 'best fit option' and let me (us) know if that is what you were requiring.

ok i went to modify area and see where i can change options. my goal is to get the arrows outside the lines even though they could fit inside. I can get the font outside by dragging but i cant figure out how to maneuver the lines outside at will.

more clarity, if i make a box really small and insert linear dimensions the arrows automatically go outside the box by automatically fitting. If I make a bigger box the arrows go inside. I am trying to figure out how to get the arrows in the big box to go outside.

If you drag the text nearly to the line, the arrows are forced outside.

yea i saw that. it is impossible to have text outside and arrows outside unless box is too small for both. i have gone through every possible modify and customize method feasible.

dont worry about it anymore. i just feel they should ahve an option to let you have both outside if you want to.

i got this autocad09 bible and am plugging through it. on page 500/1200. for other beginners its a good idea to get it and fight through it. very thorough.

Of course, being very naughty, when the arrows are outside, you could explode the dimension, and position the text to suit.
