rocneasta Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 so i've taken upon myself to try new things, and i'm stuck with a problem. I had a 7MB 2D drawing in acad - and i've deleted everything from geometry to layouts, purged styles and even deleted the most stubborn layer called "defpoints" but my file is still 218KB... and my plan is to make it less than 10KB or whatever may be the starting point i'm using autocad2008 but can switch to autocad2010 that i have also any tips would be most welcomed Quote
rocneasta Posted October 23, 2009 Author Posted October 23, 2009 basically after purge in the drawing was left unreferenced X-refs - detached them all (got 1KB less ) 3 text styles - deleted 2 custom, leaving only standard (both were locked - one by current, other by use in dim override) 1 dimension override - deleted it i got nothing left to dooooo, no blocks no nothing, cause purge already took care of those, and i took care of the things he failed to take care of, so taking care of my problem is a problem to take care of, bah... ReMark Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 It sounds like you have accomplished all that you can with this particular file. Quote
lpseifert Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Try to Wblock the entities to a new dwg and see if that decreases the size. You'll lose your layouts though. Quote
rocneasta Posted October 23, 2009 Author Posted October 23, 2009 even though i deleted all layouts except one - when i did "w" entire drawing it's size was decreased to 68KB from 217KB - this is excellent but WHY! Quote
lpseifert Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 I don't have a clear explanation other than Wblocking an "ill" drawing usually cures a multitude of ailments. Quote
