Continuous progressive 2d curve needed, newbie scratching his head....

Hi All,

I'm new to Autocad, having come from a photoshop and Illustrator background, and not afraid to admit that it's quite a technical program!

I have a very basic grasp of what i need to do in 2d, but there is one aspect that eludes me through many searches and tutorials and I'm wondering if it is actually possible...

I need to create a progressive line that follows a continuously changing curve.. Imagine the cross section of the hull of a boat. The line is broken down into individual measurement points, but I need a way to smoothly join them all together to produce a constant curvature...

any ideas?

Look at the SPLINE command. You will select the points (7 in the example drawing), then select an initial tangent direction for the start and end. Or hint "enter" for the two tangent requests to accept a default values.

Great program AutoCAD.

Like Seant states, "Look at the SPLINE command."
I just did a similar curve using the SPLINE command.

Very glad to have come across the board, I'm sure I will be back, and who knows, in a while I 'may' have learned enough to put something back... lol

After yesterday's success I'm starting to see a lot of potential to this program!
