MisterJingles Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Hi all Why is it some viewports cannot be selected? I need to delete a viewport but cannot select it. If I double click it I can enter it but I cant single click and select it in order to delete it. Whats the setting? Regards Rob Quote
NBC Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 First suggestion would be to check that all layers are thawed and switched on Quote
alanjt Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 If the viewport is on the Defpoints layer and the 0 layer is frozen, you cannot touch it. Quote
SPARKY77 Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Also check that the viewport hasn't been locked Quote
MisterJingles Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Thanks guys, it was on a layer that had been switched off. Obviously protocol should be to put all viewports on one layer right? Quote

MisterJingles Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Im really learning the hard way arent I? There really should be a book laying out all accepted standard procedure when working with CAD and Cad files. That said, putting VPs on single layers makes complete sense and shouldnt need a manual to know that. Quote

The problem is that these kind of things are often specific for companies, in general there are no standards that apply to everyone. What I would recommend for you, since you seem to learn these things on your own, is make your own company standard. Everything like this, putting Viewports on their own layer, write it down in an official document. Then when the next caddie comes along, you have something to point at to make them do the same as you. Quote
MisterJingles Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Very good idea. Will help me too as I go. Perhaps a thread for these tips should be started for everyone to contribute to. That way people could choose which they wanted to use and learn more themselves. Quote
