command to be able to see blocks when inserting

how do i turn on the ability to see block once the insertion point has been picked?

DRAGMODE, I think..

thats what I thought as well but dragmode is not working. I have a arrow block that I insert frequently and until a day or two ago was able to see the arrow when it was inserted and the pick point was established. Now for some reason I cannot see the the arrow when inserting.

I am using ACAD 09 so I am thinking there is a command that I have not used that will reinit this option.

Someone help please, I am going nuts trying to remember how to bring that function back.

Dragmode has 3 settings,

In r14 at least Auto displayed the block, ON did not.

It was showing the block at one time. I just recently stopped showing the block on insert. Not sure what I did to change that but I cannot get the image to show when inserting now. I have set the dragmode to both on and auto and still no image.

I now there must be a simple setting somewhere that I cannot seem to find.

I just tested Dragmode in both R14 and 2009LT and could make the block show or not make it show with the suggested above settings.

Have you tried the same in a different drawing?

I thought it might have something to do with a blocks program I have installed but after uninstalling the program I still cannot see the blocks before actually inserting it. I have removed traces of the program from the acad support files and uninstalled in control panel. I thought that might be the cause but blocks still do not show until fully inserted.

This is beginning to annoy me. I really need to see blocks as I insert them to rotate into the correct angle.

any other ideas?

Somehow it is now working. Not sure what changed but I can now see my blocks as I am inserting them. I will reinstall the blocks program and if it stops again I guess I will have found my problem.
