Place Viewport in a new layer?

I created a new layer for my viewport but now how do i put that viewport into that layer so i can click on the printer icon that corresponds to the viewport layer so the viewport line will not be printed.

Go into your layers, find your viewport layer that im assuming is called viewport, check the printer icon so that it shows its crossed out.

I did that but i believe my problem is that i created a new layer called viewport and i dont think there is anything on that layer. so my question is how do i get the viewport on the viewport layer so when i do click the printer icon it will not print the border line
