TonyBorland Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Hi, How do i change the color of a part in one go.I have a tyre with many protruding knobs but i find that i have to change color individually for each knob from grey to black. Can i do the color change for the whole tyre in one go? Cheers Tony Quote
shift1313 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 If you are editing the part, when you select a face, right click and go to properties you will be able to tell each face what color to be or As Feature, As Body etc which will let them take the material of the others. If you go into Inventor Studio and click on the Surface Styles button you can select a component and assign a surface material. What is your part? is it one solid or surface bodies or multiple solids? Quote
TonyBorland Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 Thanks....my part is a motorcycle tyre in which i have added knobs to the tyre. When i go to make the tyre black i can only make the tyre casing black first and then I find that to make the knobs on the tyre black i have to do each knob individually. Is it possible to highlight the whole tyre including the knobs and make it black in one go? Thanks Quote
shift1313 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 are they all 1 part? If you havent messed with the properties of individual faces, go to Environment>InventorStudio and then you can change the surface style of the entire component as well as tweak the values. By using the visual drop down tab in the assembly or part environment you are limited saved appearances. does this make sense? Quote
marcusdarcy Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I have found that when editing a part, I can change the colour of the separate features of a part (e.g. extrusions, faces) and I can also select the whole part and change its colour. To change the whole part color: In the browser menu, I select the part at the top of the tree (i.e. ***.ipt) and then go change the colour. Make sure all other features are set to 'as feature' otherwise the color they are given overrides the whole part's color. You can also give a whole part a color within the assembly and this will take on a different color to when you open the part up itself. Hope this helps. Quote
