Jio098 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I f i want to make a cup i must start from the 2D design of 2 circles one inside the other and then go to 3D and make it actualy look like a cup right? My question is, how do i gine volume to the design???? Quote
todouble22 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 everyone has their own preference, but have u worked with different view ports before.. transitioning from 2d to 3d is easier to work with using different vports.. you can set different views to 3d, conceptual, etc.. Quote
Jio098 Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 no i actually havent worked with different vports... Thanks! Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 You want to create a solid body to give it volume. I'm not familiar with the loft command but I've seen it mentioned here many times. That would be one wat. The approach I would take would be create a closed polyline of the "half" section of the cup then use the revolve command. If you are unfamiliar with working in 3d get to know your UCS command and always have you UCSICON on so you know where in the world you are. I findit easier when working in 3d to be in an isometric view. Quote
SuperCAD Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Revolve will do. I second this approach. Create a profile of the cup (a section through the middle, if you will), cut it in half (so only half of the section is visible), then PEDIT the profile to create a closed polyline and revolve the polyline around the center axis of the cup. ica_cici Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Been trying the revolve and it works. Wow! it's so simple, thank you all. To Jio098 - just do as Patrick Hughes and SuperCad suggestion and you'll get the result. revolve.dwg Quote
