Did search, outside drawing uses Eng. units, need to convert to Dec.

I have an outside drawing that I need to change the units to Decimal. Currently they are in Engineering. When I type in 'units' and make the change, the same line that scaled 287'-5" now scales 3449.01. Why does changing the units seem to change the length of the line?

How can I correct this to Decimal units holding the 287'? Thanks.

287'-5" x 12 = 3449...

scale by a factor of 1/12

Thanks! I wanted to see if autocad could do it for me but it looks like the drawing was originally done in inches.

Thanks again.

open a blank drawing using metric template.

go to tools>options>user preference> & under 'insertion scale', set 'source content unit' to 'inches' & 'target drawing unit' to 'milimeter'. Also make 'insunits' value '4'(mm) and

than bring in this exisitng drawing there using insert comand.
