kevingohery Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Hi all i'm just wondering if anyone can help me with the following problem. im trying to export a 3d drawing to Bryce and have followed the instructions given in the tutorial on this website. however, when i try to select the filetype, the .3ds type isnt there at all. According to the tutorial it should be. Can anyone help? Quote
JBullseye74 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Hi Kev.... if i remember correctly you first need to export from Autocad your 3d model as an 3DS object file type and then open Bryce and insert the file. I found this tutorial see if it helps http://www.cadtutor.net/dd/bryce/atob/atob.html However the 3DSOUT function was removed from after 2007 so i think you have to download an 'add on' Quote
kevingohery Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 Thanks for your reply, any idea where i can get the add-on?? Quote

Cad64 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I know the 3DSOUT utility works in versions up to 2008. Does it actually work in 2009? http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=9481286&linkID=9240618 Quote
kevingohery Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 if it doesnt work in 2009 is there another way to export to bryce? Quote
Cad64 Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 You can download and install a free program called Blender. Export from Autocad in .dxf format, Import to Blender and then Export as .3ds format. Other than that, I don't know? Quote
