woodworks Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I have been dimensioning in 3d and am aware of ucs and dimensioning in the correct plane. My question is how to have the dimension in the correct plane but have the text only turn facing plan view (perpendicular to current view)? Properties will rotate the text in the plane where dimension was created. The only way I can come up with is to explode the dimension and 3d rotate the text. Is there an easier way? Apprecitate any suggestions Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I take it you are dimensioning a 3d solid object. Good that you are familiar with the ucs and planular construction. Something to play with: Set your UCS to "View" - that will set it perpendicular to your current viewpoint and will construct your dimension with the text plan to the current viewpoint. But that presents another problem because now the dimensions themselve will also be plan to the current view. To align the dimension to the geometry you will need to use a "Rotated" dimension type. Like I said it will take some playing and you may still not be satisfied. What I do in a situation like this is to generate a flattend ISO drawing and dimension that. Quote
woodworks Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 Thanks. I will play around with it some more. I'm actually trying to duplicate a drawing problem from a text book, just for fun. Quote
