Extra line created after applying BEND feature

Hi,

I need experts advice. I have created a 3D Sketch "a pipe line", then I apply a BEND feature radius = 1524mm, after applying a BEND in the 2 angled lines, I noticed that it still creates an extra line along the angle.

How? Do I get rid of the extra line. Tried trim but does not work.

Any help on this.

was your sketch line constrained before you did the bend? Where does the end point of the arc created match up to? What was your selection for the bend, was that line part of it? I would delete it and see what happens, you always have undo right:)

@ shift1313 - I believe it is constrained. the arc was created and matched to the lines selected. I have selected the two lines, and also tried deleting the extra line. When I deleted, it also deletes the arc/bend.

I would use 2D sketches to control the 3D sketch. It is far too difficult to set up (and especially to edit) a 3D sketch the way you have (unless you have Routed Systems). see attached. Double click on any dimension and change (within reason) and then click Update to see how easy to change.

I have noticed that on the Sketch 1 you have change the orientation of the UCS. How did you that? I have tried by going to the Constraint panel and "Edit Coordinate System" but, I can't seem to rotate the "Y" axis like what you have done. I can rotate it but only in 1 direction! Could you please let me/us know how to do it.

Exit sketch.

Right mouse button on the sketch in the browser and select Redefine.

Select desired worplane.

Or better yet.

In Application Options set Inventor to NOT create a new sketch when starting a new part file to begin with. Then YOU select what plane you want to start your Sketch1.
