salman Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Sometimes I face a problem with CTRL+C (copy) command. Once I copy some objects using this method. Then if I try to create a new selection using the same command and paste using CTRL+V instead of the newly selected objects same old ones are pasted. Is it a problem, of operating system. Anyhow whatever be the case how to get rid of it without restarting the program. Thanks. Quote
ScribbleJ Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Sounds like your systems RAM is clogged up. Rebooting will clear that up but sometimes just simply closing AutoCad will free up the memory that it is using. I would try the latter option first then reboot if it doesn't help. Quote
Tiger Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I don't have a solution for you, this problem have come up before though. But a suggestion, if you are copy-pasteing within the same dwg - use the copy command inside autocad instead - it works better and faster. Quote
Coosbaylumber Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I think in your use of CNTL+C it is a matter of timing. For just because you are not altering things via the keyboard, Autocad is in the background. The main CPU for your computer is still going. It is processing something, which goes on up until the light goes off. You may not see anything going, but that does not mean it isn't thinking. Thus, you may hit the CNTL+C at a point inside the processing system, and the software is reacting to your latest (at the instant) command, which may be in middle of the background processing, and not wanting to go too much further on until it receives the follow-up signal or yet a wholey different one from you. Glen Smith Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 When this happens to me I generally find that I didn't have an active selection when I hit ^c. I only use ^c ^v to copy / paste between drawings, so I'll hit the ^c, switch drawing windows and hit ^v. If I get an unexpected result, 9 times out of 10 when I go back to the source window, AutoCAD is patiently waiting with a prompt - Command: _copyclip Select objects: So whats in the clipboard is not the thing you thought you copied, but the last thing that you actually copied. You may be having a different problem, but this frequently happens to me. Glen Quote
