3dfabrique Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Hi I'm trying to build a 3d terrain using information extracted from google earth. I have a mesh in .3ds format but its made up of several overlapping mesh planes. I want to try to clean it up by creating a new mesh with a point cloud plugin. but I'm having problems converting the 3dfaces into points. Anybody know how I might do this ? cheers Quote
Cad64 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I'm having problems converting the 3dfaces into points. Anybody know how I might do this ? You might be able to do it with a custom lisp routine, but I don't know of any standard Autocad command that will do it. What is this point cloud plugin that you mentioned? Quote
3dfabrique Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 Hi its called 'point cloud for autocad' and developed by Sycode. I have a trial version. If I can get beyond the stage of converting 3dfaces to points then it may turn out to be a good plugin. I know nothing about lisp - any suggestions on how to find a lisp routine to do this ? cheers Anthony Quote
Randolph Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 what's the problem with the planes overlapping? don't they match? what happens if you project a colour (map) on the data "as it is"? Quote
